Gas
has obviously affected our economy greatly but we know much of the gas
prices which are set are determined by many of these oil
companies. The last time I heard/read oil prices were like $70 a
barrel and will probably continue to increase. Gas prices are
continually on the rise, just last week the gas prices inflated 15
cents more per gallon of gas, thats some huge inflation for gas.
In the past year gas prices are up over a $1 per/gallon now. So
what are many of the US consumers to do, really I don’t there is much
we can do to control the prices but perhaps many of us will seek other
sources of transportation, more carpooling, purchasing of more fuel
efficent vehicles like hybrids and what not. For some consumers,
escaping gas prices are inevitable especially commutters who go to work
and those who just must drive. I was also thinking that many
consumers might even change travel plan, less driving and perhaps more
flying if the cost are better to fly then to drive of course but with
all these gas prices increasing it makes me wonder who many consumer
make it, I mean freak My gas bill has gone up like almost 50% from my
gas bill only a few months ago, its absolutely insane. I remember
talking to my dad about this whole economic issue of gas and oil prices
and he told me that he remembered where there was a time when he was a
boy when gas prices were .29 cents a gallon, WTF….
Incredibly crazy but of course the US economy is far more advanced than
it was before and hence our economy has much great technology than it
did prob 40-50 some odd years ago but damn, .29 cents…wowzers.
While typing this I realize that I will be taking a road trip to SD
this weekend and gas is $3 a gallon at least so what I am thinking,
ahhaha…CARPOOL baby, the only efficent way to go at this point.
Road trips are the greatest but even better with good gas mileage and
reasonable gas prices. So please input into this post about gas
prices, what do you think will happen and your speculation as to
consumer bahavior might be with this current issue! On a very exciting note, Honda just released its 2006 version of the
CIVIC. In my opinion its the best looking civic yet. They
even brought back the SI coupe, yay!!!!!!! Power, effiecently and
reliability makes me wonder why I didnt just wait to get this
car. I can’t seem to get enough from hondas, give you so much for
your money but the best part, MPG on these are just cannot be beat over
all. Unless you have a hybrid. Well I own a nice car but
damn the fuel economy sucks. Here are a few sneak
peak pictures of the coupe inside and out, its rather beautiful.

I WANT ONE!!!
that civic looks siiickkk….the SI is definately one of my favorites…especially if its all pimped/tricked out….my boy back home put $25k into his ’99 SI its hella fast
Heh, the interior is exceptional, but the exterior (judging from the pics) is mediocre at best. Looks like I’ll need to check it out in person before passing further judgment. If they manage to keep the price within 1k of the current EP3, it should be a great deal. Love the LSD, but the drive-by-wire throttle is utter weak sauce -_-

did you know that gas has been at a LOW and STABLE price since the 80s?
yes. with inflation accounted for, we’ve seen some of the lowest gas prices ever.
now with all this talk of higher gas prices, i do agree that we should watch more carefully where we drive and with who. if you even have a car, consider yourself VERY LUCKY! people have died because of hurricane katrina because they didn’t HAVE a mode of transportation! but i digress……..
carpooling is definately a great way to go. do it as much as you can. pack out your cars using every seat belt.
but go further. if you run errands. definately combine them so that you can do it all in one trip. and if your errands are close to home, walk or ride a bike. =) get some “fresh air” and exercise. plus it’s cooling off so no more it’s too hot excuse! haha!
i’m a huge advocate of public transportation. some might say almost to an obsession.
seriously, take some time to learn about the bus schedule in your area… figure out what lines and routes work for you. many transportation agencies have great websites to help you do trip planning. bus schedules can be complicated, and many of them are because agencies serve many places and people. but take a deep breath perhaps look over it with a friend!
need to go farther than a local city bus can take you? there are regional transit options! northern california has the capitol corridor and san joaquin trains. they’re relatively on time and VERY comfortable to ride in. even wi-fi internet on em! southern california also has a lot of options too. just check em out.
there’s a lot of ways to get around and not drive. i hope that more and more people like yourself can make wise decisions that not only save money, but conserve our resources and the environment. let’s just face it. oil is going to run out one day. it’s only a matter of WHEN. we have to think about the long term sustainability of our societies. can we really sustain a high energy consuming culture for future generations? maybe, maybe not.
so down the line, there may just be some really BIG choices we have to make…like not owning a car. (GASP!) investing in public transportation by urging funding and voting for initiatives that support public transportation. and even choices on where you will live and how you’ll raise your family. will you choose to live in the suburb where it’s really nice and dandy but have to drive 40+ minutes in traffic to go to work and back everyday? or can you settle for a good home in an apartment or community close to work and school? those are some really big decisions that we must make. it’s not easy…but we just have to think in a larger perspective and try to think about “how do my actions affect others now and generations from now?”
=)
thanks for reading,
peace buddy.
dang O that was the longest post anyone has ever posted on my xanga, thanks, hahahaa. yah thats why a civic is an ideal vehicle even though I dont own the darn thing. my infiniti is a gas hog compared to that. but yah, optimizing your resources is almost second to common sense for me, but yah…good stuff.
dude ..like check out what furniture i bought…:fun:
