  • The Dark Knight

    “People need
dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and I can’t do that as Bruce
Wayne, as a man I’m flesh and blood I can be ignored I can be destroyed but as
a symbol, as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting.”  “It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do
    that defines me.”  - Batman

Call me childish but its true I am a hardcore
Batman fan.  Since the production of the
first Batman and Robin show, that was my favorite show as a boy.  I still remember most of the episodes I
watched.  I’ve read comics, owned Batman
toys, collectibles, Batman collectable books you name it I’m a Batman
freakazoid but I’m not ashamed of it.

If you care to take a closer look into whom this
dynamic dark knight is he really does have an interesting story to his life
that leads to the development of his character and who is destined to be.  We all have childhood heroes, heck, we still
do today.  As a boy I have always placed
my eyes on this fictional yet dark and mysterious character.  Beyond being a Billionaire who owns most of
Gothem City, who has all the money to invest in technology, science and
R&D, driving crazy ass Bat mobiles, flying and knowing  Jujitsu his character is very enticing, most
interesting and thrilling part that makes me
want to be Batman every time I watch him in films.  (Note: Batman, Batman Returns and Batman
Begins are the only legit movies that capture what its like to be Batman:
DARK).  None of this George Clooney joke
or Val Kilmer…uh, they were horrible Batman’s. Tim Burton’s color scheme for
Batman Returns was just brilliant and made Batman come alive.  Christopher Nolan and DARK is all I have to
say to sum up what a great job he did in setting the screen play for Batman,
just the way its suppose to be, DARK.
They don’t call Batman The Dark Knight for nothing.

A taste of theatricality is the perfect word to
describe Batman.  I mean, to many of you,
he might just be a ridiculous man with a mask and a cape flying over roof tops
but what I see is he is human, more tangible in character than any of those
supernatural heroes we see in other DC and Marvel comics.  However, what’s so inspiration about Batman
is not just Batman himself but the people who walked beside him such as Alfred,
what an exceptional character for Batman.
Batman would not be Batman without Alfred.  He is always there to pick up the pieces when
    the
    Bat is in
    pieces.  Whoever thought a
    Butler
    could be a hero
eh?  O, we must not forget Rachael Doss
now, not only did she believe in Bruce/Batman as much as Alfred, she too never
    gave up on Bruce.

Through, conqouring his greatest Fears: “Bats
Frighten me, its time my enemies shared my dread” Bruce/Batman discovered the
true meaning of Justice and that Justice and Revenge are never the same. Batman
finally learns to live what his parents stood up for: Facing their fears, Stand
up to injustice, most of all, HOPE for the corrupted souls and LIGHT to the
fearful; all while fighting against injustice one bad guy at a time.

One of my most favorite scenes from Batman Begins was right after Wayne
Manor burned down and what Alfred said to Bruce…

Bruce Wayne: “What have I done, Alfred? Everything my
family… everything my father and his father built…”
    Alfred Pennyworth:
    “The
    Wayne legacy is more
    than bricks and mortar, sir.”

    Bruce Wayne: “You still
haven’t given up on me have you?”

    Alfred
    Pennyworth
    : “Never”

    Bruce Wayne
    : They told me
there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night my parents were
murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I’ve looked for it ever since. I went
around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there
in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it
    gets revenge. Me.

Inside each of us is a hero that’s
just dying to be set free but Fear gets the best of us.  There aren’t very many Batman’s out there and
our lives may not have developed like his but his life does inspire me, even if
    he’s only fictional.
