So I’m in the last step of the decision process of buying my DSLR camera. I am opting for the Canon Rebel XT or the Nikon D50. Both are really solid cameras and my last step is to go to a local electronic store to actually get a feel for them myself. I want to see how each camera feels in my hand and determine which settings I like more and what not. Thank you all so much in aiding me in my decision. I will let you all know what the final verdict is but with that said here is a last photo you will see from my Minolta G500 P & S camera. Had a lot of memories but I’ve sold it to another user. I did a little quick Photoshop on it =). Click on the photo for original image.

i want that picture too!!! where’s the silly/goofy pic?!? send/post that too!!! :spinning: yay for SLR cameras and playing with photoshop! hahaha enjoy!
either camera you’ll be happy with. i already had another nikon body and lenses so i went ahead and bought a d50 body
the rebel xt is supposed to be a really good camera, and i’ve heard there are fireware hacks that you can use to unlock all the same features as the 20D. that being said, i love the layout of nikon cameras and dont think i could switch to canon
go with XT. couple advantages- better image quality, easily borrow lenses and equipment from others. btw, do you live in So Cal, join my new all So Cal blog ring so we can meet outside Xanga and I can plan teaching events, etc…
whoa….what did you do to the pic?? when are you free this week buddy? i wanna see you!
Both are great cameras. I had the same dilemma when I started a year ago. I went with the XT because most pros seems to favor the Canon. A year later, I have no regrets. Besides, you can get nicer images in low light with the Canon. In low light, Nikons tend to offer grainier images. But if do get a Nikon, it’s a great camera!
yea i was on top of my car. i just realized my trunk is open in that pic so it looks kinda weird if you’re not expecting it, haha
Looks like a very fun group. I wish i had that many friends. hey thanks for coming by. I’m actually a double major: Biology and biochem molecular biology. I used to be a finance major for a year and half and switched to pre-medicine. Oh and keep me updated on what cam you’re gonna get. Oh i almost forgot, if you’re gonan go with the d50, i can sell you my kitted 18-55mm lens for cheaper than they sell it for. Let me know!
awww nice pic
