Down Memory Road
Landscape architecture is pretty awesome stuff. I’ve been having a blast so far doing much of the work involved. The lectures however are a complete waste of my time =) I find myself sleeping most of the time or zoning out with one of my sketches while listening to my ipod. Above is one of my first assignments for this course I had a lot of fun taking pictures, writing about it and sharing my environmental values. The pictures on the left are pictures of my childhood memory place. I spent a lot of my childhood around this park with family and friends. It’s such a beautiful time of the year to take pictures there however the sad part is the bridge you see there isn’t the original bridge that used to be there when I was a kid. It was a lot bigger and cooler looking. For some reason I always envisioned this place to be BIG but when I went back to see it; it seemed so small. The photos on the right are my ideal environments. I love wide open spaces with just endless amounts of road and landscape. Some of the photos you see there are from a road trip through Oregon which are absolutely breath taking. I love the idea of just you, the road, open road that disappears in the horizon. There is something about being in open spaces that make life seem free with no boundaries that give a sense of peace from all the chaos and pressures of this world.

hey man good memories back when we were kids riding our bikes being stupid in that park and the road trip that we took last spring. good times good times!
i noticed that too. there was this park that i played tennis when i was a kid. i remembered it took me forever to go get the ball everytime i hit it over the fence. when i saw it again a few years ago, it was like right outside the gate. i guess when you’re only three feet tall, everything seem huge. i’m digging that drawing of the bridge.
haha do you like jerkin your gerkin?

“…but when I went back to see it; it seemed so small”
that’s exactly how I felt walking into the old Toys R Us when it was still on Florin Road.. now’s its some furniture store or something… but I used to go shop there with my grandpa and buy little gifts for my friends on their birthdays and when I went back a few years ago.. everything got so much smaller.. its the growing up complex.
You dunno what it means?! Oh come on!! Don’t make me make a list for you.
Hi there….so strange I thought I commented here? I must have got on read this and got distracted. Thanks for subbing I am subbing you right now.
I know what you mean about going back to childhood places and finding them looking much smaller. I used to visit my grandmother’s house in SF on Sunday afternoons ( she lived by Haight Ashbury ) I remembered her victorian as being huge but when I saw it recently for the first time in years I was surprised to see it wasnt as massive as I rememered it. lol.
Same with alot of the old places we lived as I was growing up.
Lovely pictures and places….I was born in Oregon but in Pendleton in the desert part…but I grew up in South San Francisco in the SF bay area…I have been to lush places in Oregon visiting and I would love to move up there! Sacramento is tooo hot for me!
