  • The Next Generation

This is the next generation of my family and thats not even all of them   When these kids grow up they are all going to have so much fun at family gatherings.  I wish I had more cousins or family members around my age, that would be pretty cool!  The picture above was taken at Thanksgiving dinner!  I love all their facial expressions, quite funny!  And another interesting fact is not one of us is a pure breed! =)  We’re what I like to call HYBRIDS! Betcha can’t figure out  what we all are? haha, and if you know me you can’t say what I am because…well you know, hahah!

     10 Things I am Thankful For…

     1.  Supportive family through thick and thin.
     2.  A roof over my head
     3.  Food & water because for some this just isn’t a reality
     4.  The men and women who have fought for our very freedom.
     5.  Jesus – the ransom for all my sins, thank you!  I still can’t fathom the price you paid!
     6.  People with heart because it’s a rare thing in this world.
     7.  The opportunity to attend college and seek higher education.
     8.  Parents and all their hard work and dedication to their children.
     9.  My best friend Eric
    10.  All my struggles and failures because I’ve learned so much.

     What are you thankful for?

  • After The Rain Comes The Sun

I think photography is accidental a lot of times.  I’ve found many
of my shots that I’ve intentionally attempted to shoot don’t always
come out the way I wanted or expected them to come out.  I find
that a lot of my work has been accidental or unintentional shall I
say.  It’s actually kind of disappointing and surprising all at the
same time.  The intentional work can be disappointing a lot of
times and the best part is when you take something you had no real
intention of shoot and somehow the photo just stood out to you or there
was something about it that caught your eye.  That’s the
surprisingly good part!  It can be a hate and love relationship
    To have
mastered photography is truly a life long mission because I don’t think
    anyone
can!  There are an overwhelming amount of variables that are
involved in photography but that doesn’t mean there aren’t extravagant artist
out there, because there are.  I think the most difficult part is
setting yourself apart among other photographers.  That in itself
is a real challenge and I don’t know if I’ll ever really develop a
style or something that sets my work apart from others.  There is
no such thing as ones work being better than others because its all
interpreted to people so differently based on the way they view things
in life.  I remember asking a series of people what they though
about some of my photos and when they saw it, to my surprise they all
had something very different to say about it.  Many of them even viewed
it in ways I had not seen or though about myself until brought to my
attention.  I believe thats one of the beauties of photography is
how it can speak to each individual differently!

  • The Real M.I.B.

    Here’s the real deal ladies!
If you want to go on a mind blowing date with one of these rico suaves
you’ll just have to comment now, hahaha.  Anyways, enough of that
cheesy action; so I felt like pulling out a pic from one of my best
friend’s wedding this past summer.  Didn’t have the chance to take
any pictures because I was in the wedding party.  My sister took
this pic with my 350D and it was ok.  She had no idea how to use
the camera hahaha but never the less those auto settings do wonders for
clueless DSLR people! =)  I really like this picture because its
one of the few really good pictures I have with my best friend
Eric(Best Man at the wedding FYI).  As a Chinese person may say…”so stunning” hahaha!  Finally a pic of the photographer himself!

    P.S. – It’s
Veterans Weekend.  Give respect and honor where its due!
Thank You to the men and women who fought for our FREEDOM!

  • A Light Unto The Path…

    Canon 350D  •
    Tamron 24-75mm  f/5.6 •  1/200 sec @ISO 200

    Canon 350D  •
    Tamron 24-75mm  f/4.0 •  1/1250 sec @ISO 400

This weekend I went on a photo shoot with
    Junshien
and I was able to use the Tamaron 24-75mm lens and I must say its
a pretty solid lens.  The 10-22mm is a really WIDE lens too, I didn’t
shoot with that but I got to check it out and it’s a pretty sweet
    lens.
The image you see above was taken using the 24-75mm and the zoom is
    pretty decent
too.  I wouldn’t say it’s the most ideal lens for the image I took but
I was just experimenting with different things.  Junshien had an
actual photo shoot with a couple people and that was a lot of fun to
    observe
and learn from.  I took some photos of the subjects but won’t be
    showing
any since it wasn’t my photo shoot!  If anyone wants to do a photo
    shoot
with me sometime, maybe you can be my beta experiment.  I’ve done
mostly kids but most of the photos are candid.  More and more that I
    shoot
I can’t emphasize more how much time of day and lighting are crucial.
    I
could see a difference in many of my photos when I’ve taken a series of
    them
during different times of the day.  During about a 3 hour photo shoot
    the
    suns intensity during about
    2pm
    till around
    5pm
has such a large change in value over the course of just a few hours.
Some of my images came out really harsh but shooting towards the end of the day
things are definitely softer and there is a different feel and experience you
get from the photo.  Sounds like a no brainier to many of you
photographers.  I can’t wait to get my 12-24mm lens.  The 24-75mm
lens I’m still not sure if I want to get the lens quite yet.  Lately I
feel so limited just using my 18-55mm and 50mm lens but it’s really taught
me how to work with constraints in photography.  Sometimes Id like to say
my work has been limited by equipment constraints but at the same time I think
a good photographer/artist works to the best of their ability to create
something truly original with what they got!  Above all I’m having fun!
P.S. – Make sure you drop by Junshien and Scott Robert’s
sites for updates on wedding photography!  Scott is a fabulous artist
and the up and coming artist Junshien is making impressive progress!
