  • A Light Unto The Path…

    Canon 350D  •

    Canon 350D  •
    Tamron 24-75mm  f/4.0 •  1/1250 sec @ISO 400

This weekend I went on a photo shoot with
    Junshien
and I was able to use the Tamaron 24-75mm lens and I must say its
a pretty solid lens.  The 10-22mm is a really WIDE lens too, I didn’t
shoot with that but I got to check it out and it’s a pretty sweet
    lens.
The image you see above was taken using the 24-75mm and the zoom is
    pretty decent
too.  I wouldn’t say it’s the most ideal lens for the image I took but
I was just experimenting with different things.  Junshien had an
actual photo shoot with a couple people and that was a lot of fun to
    observe
and learn from.  I took some photos of the subjects but won’t be
    showing
any since it wasn’t my photo shoot!  If anyone wants to do a photo
    shoot
with me sometime, maybe you can be my beta experiment.  I’ve done
mostly kids but most of the photos are candid.  More and more that I
    shoot
I can’t emphasize more how much time of day and lighting are crucial.
    I
could see a difference in many of my photos when I’ve taken a series of
    them
during different times of the day.  During about a 3 hour photo shoot
    the
    suns intensity during about
    2pm
    till around
    5pm
has such a large change in value over the course of just a few hours.
Some of my images came out really harsh but shooting towards the end of the day
things are definitely softer and there is a different feel and experience you
get from the photo.  Sounds like a no brainier to many of you
photographers.  I can’t wait to get my 12-24mm lens.  The 24-75mm
lens I’m still not sure if I want to get the lens quite yet.  Lately I
feel so limited just using my 18-55mm and 50mm lens but it’s really taught
me how to work with constraints in photography.  Sometimes Id like to say
my work has been limited by equipment constraints but at the same time I think
a good photographer/artist works to the best of their ability to create
something truly original with what they got!  Above all I’m having fun!
P.S. – Make sure you drop by Junshien and Scott Robert’s
sites for updates on wedding photography!  Scott is a fabulous artist
and the up and coming artist Junshien is making impressive progress!

  • So you wanna donate to the “Buy Jessica a Wide Angle Lens” fund??

  • :sunny: beautiful photos!!

  • aite I’m gonna have to get myself a camera and do the same!

  • I have the Tamaron 18-200 on my wish list. I’m a great fan of snapshots and candid photos, so I’d like a lens that lets get farther away from my subject, but still grab those shots when I’m up close.

  • wow. ur getting better and better with the shots.

People think that taking pictures is just point and shoot but there’s definitely so much more to learn about photography.

  • damn steve. i remember when you were just started off with photography. you’ve progressed QUITE a bit. congrats and keep shooting!!!!

  • So true about the lighting…when we did my niece’s photoshoot/SR pictures we worked about 3 hours outdoors and we caught the late afternoon sun till just dark. I could see the softness toward the end that wasnt there when it was harsh sun. Lighting makes so much difference!!

Great post and I checked out both links…already visit Scotts site but loved his post today!!! Your friend Junshien has a great site!

Gonna go sub him right now…

    Have a great evening!

  • i was using a nikon fe film camera.
at my school, we develop our own film and have a darkroom so ahhaha.. i usually use that camera cuz i like working in the darkroom.
    for digital, i use a nikon d70s.
but, if i’m lucky and out taking pictures with my photo teacher, he lets me use his Canon EOS D-1 mark 2. OMG. I LOVE HIS CAMERA.

  • Awww thanks for those very kind comments!!! That really touched me. I just hope that every CPC could have the opportunity to impact its communities wherever they are.

    Have a great weekend!!

  • Nice nice. One thing I’ve noticed I DON’T like about the tamron is that it’s not very sharp. It looks sharp, but it really isn’t. there’s not that much detail. It just has really good control for the chromatic abberation. Watch out. highly recomending the tokina.

  • Sounds like you had a great time. I really like that first photo!
