The Unknown
So lately I’ve been rethinking about my career goals and objectives and I must say it’s not as easy when you sit down to think about it. For some, their objectives are crystal clear, others its questionable, doubtful and sometimes clueless. I’ve found myself creating different objectives for different jobs/careers but I have found myself stretching myself out a lot here which can be both good and bad. Stretching yourself too thin can make it seem like you don’t know what you want either. Knowing myself I may not know exactly what I’ll be doing just yet or how I will get there but I know I will get there in the end. It’s sort of like a playing cards, you’ll never know what hand you’ll get.
Finding a good job can be really difficult but Id imagine being patient can be even a greater virtue. I swear this is like my other full time job. I am fortunate I still have a job while I am discovering a career Id like to enter into. But marketing yourself well isn’t always the easiest thing to make employers want to have a second look at you. You may not all agree with me on this notion but it’s really about who you know in terms of job/career connections or almost anything in life. To me its common sense but it’s seem more realistic when I experience it either in my life or when I hear about with others. Skills and other specializations are important but the bottom line is it’s really who you know. How many people can really say they made it 100% on their own I doubt everyone can say that. Most of us are linked to someone and that how it usually work in this world. The most difficult part is gaining experience when you don’t have much of it while employers demand experience. Sometimes I wonder how do people even get started? So watch out for the noob on the market because I’m making my way downtown, hahah.
Funny quote while talking to someone experienced… “You think you are worth $100,000 but you’re only worth $40,000 because thats what you make.” I thought that was pretty funny but at the same time it’s true if you’re talking from a monetary perspective. Who knows I might work for someone else for a number of years and then later down the road of life I could be my own boss!
Talking to my parents, they would of never imagined they would be doing what they do now so I guess discovering my niche in the market is what I’m after!

sweet shot man!
:sunny: cool photo!!
Beautiful shot!
So what area are looking looking to work in?
the same is true about wedding photography. people ask me how to can they raise their rates but you can’t demand more without giving more. When it comes to your career, don’t worry about the money, just keep trying to do things that you have a passion about at the highest level possible and then all of a sudden things start to fall in place. keep learning and investing in yourself and you will soon develop skill sets that are very marketable if you can use them to serve the public. It may take years but that is life- a journey.
ditto what scott said.
it might be who you know, so go out and meet a lot of people.
you are already a freaking amazing photographer.
what’s to question?
davis tunnels! =D
:spinning: that’s a lot of different fields/ directions. What was your major in school? Will you try to use it in a career choice?
May the Lord Guid you.:heartbeat:
nice location..
Hey!! you better take care of frankiepoo when you guys go to uh.. seattle, oregon, canada. uh.. i think that’s it.
hey that’s cool!
SERIOUSLY. It is always about the connections! ;[ It’s okay though, we all know college really just leaves us more confused than when we went in. I’m still confused. I mean I know what I have to do, but it’s the going about it that confuses me. Come to New York please. This Ny bunni misses you!
I might have gotten the weird-eye if I did that to him. Also the last thing I want to do is to give an impression that I am hitting on the guy, much less lose his business to the lab. :p
Great picture of the tunnel! Which tunnel was that?
whoa! looking at this picture is a trip! i like it =)
ryc: thanks man, message me your email, ill send you a bigger copy if you want it
its a very nice wagon isnt it? its one of my best friend’s wagon, not mine (although i should be getting mine near the end of the year hurray!)
yes i do go to (or went to) UCD. class of 2006. working on campus now at the nutritions dept doing their design work. i noticed that they had a big graduation poster here on the wall near my office and youre in it.
the rim picture i used a car mount, not photoshopped, although you could ps it, but i never tried it before. something like this:

i had borrowed it from a friend. i forgot what his was, all i remember was that it had one big suction cup as opposed to the multiple seen on others. i had a canon RS60E3 corded remote to let the shutter loose (btw if you dont have that i highly recommend it hehe). i have yet to perfect that art though. you can cop up your own, people have made makeshift mounts with wood and a tripod head before, just do a search on photography-on-the.net/forum
i normally use my 17-40L lens. its a beauty =) espcially on aps-c cameras like ours. ive gotten used to the slow f4 aperture though.
god’s got a plan dude…
it’s really good to hear how patient you are.
keep on waiting on the Lord.
=)
nice pics man!
trippy looking picture
That is a tunnel in Davis? Cool!
So glad to hear from you! Everyone has been kinda busy unwinding from the holidays…funny to think about the paradox of that statement.
Ya know, when we started our business we never doubted that God was doing something for us in this field/business. When we stepped out we stepped out! It was kinda hard at first because we didnt have alot of marketing skills but things seem to be rolling along now!
We are constantly asessing and reasessing ourselves. Our equipment, our skills, our education, marketing, website, album and lab choices, processing/editing sofware, hardware…the wedding world at large….and our personal/spiritual life. Making it all gel without getting too lost in one area…reinvesting in ourselves and reinventing ourselves when need be…to be cutting edge but not too far out that we lose the brides! Being real and honest…and most of of all LOVING what we do and caring about each job. Those are the things that we care about and work on. We just booked out 5th wedding for this summer. Possibly 6. We will be AWOL for the month of June on Xanga I think!
Let us know next time you want to just go for a day of fun shooting! love to get to know you! Just don’t wait till June!
ha!
Kerri
i’m praying for God to uplift us both!
i’m working just so i have enough money to support what i’m really passion about. then eventually i want to get paid for my passion. it’s the long way around but hey… i’m taking the safe route.
Good job in your career endeavors. I’m sure you’ll find your niche soon.
Sweet photo, by the way. It’s very fitting!

“Find a job that you like, and you’ll never work a day in your life” <— I think Confucious.
why dont you become a photographer? you have a good eye
blahhh trust me i’ve been there! i get jealous sometimes that people already know what to with their lives, and i dont. but i think i’m sure what i want to do in life this time!
but im sure you will eventually find what you want to do in life. it just takes some time.
holy crap, awesome shot.
Hey you must be busy…havent seen you around lately! How is it going?
Kerri
I’ll be sure to pray for you. I know how you feel. I only may be 15, but I think about it all the time. Just remember, if it’s in God’s plan, He’ll make it work. =)

You’re right… for some people it’s so easy. They know exactly what they want to do and never look back. Bob is that way. Me, it took me over 15 years as an Accountant to finally realize that design was where I wanted to be. It will work out for you, whatever it is that you wish… God will lead you to the path if you allow him. He knows the way! ~ Dawn Ps: Amazing photo!
