  • Fields Of Gold

Wow was this weekend fun and amazing.  So much to tell but don’t have the time right now to cover everything from the weekend or whats going on in my head! =)  This weekend I had the privilege of meeting a photographer I admire very much, Scott Robert.  I know there maybe some of you who have met Scott already but if you haven’t he’s even cooler in person.  His excitement and passion for photography, art, life, beauty etc. is contagious and inspiring.  Beyond his amazing work, skills and imagination to compose such beautiful art work the thing that strikes me about Scott is people like him.  Perhaps people admire him for his work but as a person people like him, they are drawn to his personality and passion in his life.

So you are probably wondering what I learned at the workshop, well I might have to save this one for the next post but I can tell you I learned a lot, I was jotting down notes like a mad man haha.  I’ve been so busy after the workshop that I haven’t even had a chance to beta Scott’s actions yet =( You wont regret any penny you spend on his workshop or mentor class.  If you believe in self investment than you will add this to your self investment list if you are a photographer.  The notion is simple, if you don’t invest, whether its money, time or anything to improve yourself or skills you’ll probably come out with empty pockets.  You sow what you reap.  If you get a chance to attend one of Scotts workshop, don’t miss it.  I give you some details from the workshop but I guess you’ll just have to take his classes to find out now! =)  If you are serious about wedding photography or photography that will make you income I recommend his mentor class.

What makes things even more sweet for me was I got to see all my friends I went to school with who all live somewhere in the bay, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Oakland, San Jose, etc and it just brought back some of the awesome memories I had with these people.  I am blessed to know you all and I thank God for the friendship we have.

Another thing to note, if you live in Cali…good Lord is the weather just awesome.  I’m ready for shorts and T shirts, ready to hit the beach, lakes, shoot I have my board shorts on right now as I speak! =)  The daylight hangs out longer and of its just beautiful.  How about this early time change for everyone, its throwing a lot of people off I think.  From sources I’ve heard that the idea was to reduce energy cost but in reality it doesn’t really change anything in a positive way accept throw peoples schedule off! =)

HELP: My camera, I was shooting today and while I was in Manual mode on my Rebel XT the word BULB came up on my settings display, what on earth does that mean?  I’m kinda worried! Any help?  Is something wrong with my censor?

Down here in So Cal we are so behind with rainfall, those flowers haven’t shown themselves yet…with that said the weather is gorgeous, but I’d be happy with rain all through March and April, to bring down the fire danger and help our big trees that are so stressed they are dying from pests.:(

  • haha thanks man. you’ve got to share some photos with scotts actions asap! i’ve always wanted to take his class, but have never had enough money!

  • By expanding day light saving time, people will be awake less during dark hours, so they’ll spend less waking time being indoors watching TV, using house lights etc.  That’s the logic.  I’ve heard as a counterpoint that people would spend more time outside driving to stores or recreation sites, increasing harmful emissions.  However, this additional outdoor activity would be good for the economy.  I don’t know about the overall net effects, but at least in this case I’ll say the Federal government doesn’t undertake such ardous changes without good reason.

  • Steve, What a gorgeous photo!!! Love the blue sky. I miss that kind of weather, can’t wait for summer here in Chicago!!! ~ Dawn

  • pictures looking good dude. youve springboarded fast into the photog scene since you got that dslr huh? =)

  • nice picture. what if reality was just like that? its like living a dream.

  • bulb mode is a way to hold the shutter for long periods of time – either pressing the shutter button or with a remote. you can take cool pictures of the sky at night and capture the stars as they slowly make their way across the sky.

  • BEE-U-TA-FUL PIC!!  Can’t wait to see the new and improved pics after the workshop!!  You interested in doing wedding photography??  One of these days, I’m going to get the money together and go see Scott Robert myself!!  TTYL!!  -IB-

  • hahaha ‘cos i own one now. i love it.

  • beautiful shot!! =)

  • Steve: (Refer your comment) Yes, I feel the same as you do, those pic is truly horrific! In fact, these pic are quite “moderate” if compare it with the rest in those related websites. I couldn’t continue to see it and read the stories anymore after I browsed it for awhile…… So do pls. kick their ass with more of your strength when if you see people is abusing dog. Thanks! (^O^)

  • I love the photographs…simple yet complex.

  • wow great pics!

  • like your sharings :coolman: – & yes, california is wonderful :sunny:

  • I know my Dad used to call the “bulb” setting on his old camera, the setting that kept the shutter open until he closed it with a corded shuttle release. I always wondered why he called it bulb, but he did. Maybe it’s a throwback to old hooded cameras, LOL. Have no idea what it means on a Rebel though!
My God, I could spend weeks on your site. Amazing photos, and amazing text. I used to think I was a halfway decent photographer until I joined Xanga. It’s absolutely amazing what you kids can do with a digital camera these days. How much of what you do is Photoshopped? You seem to be living the dream I always wanted…the only thing that would be better I think is working for National Geographic! Keep up the good work! –A “Fan”
