  • The Power Of Sharing

Photo taken by JUNSHIEN & processed by me! =) And yes thats me!

Playing around with different logo fonts =)

Sharing has a interesting magic of its own.  Sharing something with ten people allows you to share an idea to someone while you get to hear it ten more time.  Sharing includes sharing with your family, friends and so forth.  When a person shares something with someone else, two things happen…the audience could be transformed and so might the speaker.  If you share with someone else they could be transformed, you may have dropped in at the right time.  This could be their moment or revelation in life to opportunities they never saw before.  We are all looking for transformation, we are looking for something more than this life has to offer.  Many of us desire to be good at what we do but not everyone desires to be GREAT.  Sharing makes room for more but to make room for more we need to pour out into others so that we can be filled with more.  When you share and pour out into others it likely you will receive more. If you don’t believe it, just try it and see what happens!  A close friend of mine SHARED something with me that changed my life.  To say it revolutionized my thinking and my perspective on life might be extreme to say just yet but at one point I was blind but now I can see!  And that was all through the power of sharing.  Sharing with one another our life experiences, accomplishments, thoughts and ideas can impact people in ways we may never notice.  It’s like the gift of Salvation…it is something good but don’t you hord whats good to yourself do you?  OF COURSE NOT, YOU SHARE IT WITH EVERYONE so that they too may know the grace of the Lord and be exposed to the vast opportunities that life may have to offer.  Only requirement of sharing is that you LISTEN!  You may not necessarily agree with people of course but at least give people an opportunity to share. A life or perspective change could be one persons voice you listen to away!  As human beings we often fall into the trap of what I call tunnel vision where you don’t see anything around you except for what is in front of you or afflicting you.  Therefore…expand yourself beyond your bubble and explore what life has to offer! Sharing is simply, it’s knowledge passed onto others!

Job Update:  Well I’m not unemployed which is a good thing but finding another job has definitely been tough.  Housing markets are down in my region of California, taxes are being filed, the job market here is scarce along with many other factors that seem to be affecting my job hunt.  I swear I entered the job market at a bad time, others say I’m looking in the wrong places or Sacramento sucks haha!  You might ask…why on earth are you staying there or limiting yourself to this place only!  For me its simple, Family!  Some people may not have close family ties and this may seem like a stupid excuse but my family circumstances are very important to me and they are the people I love the most in life.  Is it easy?  No but it’s not an inner struggle with life but it is a difficult transitional period!  A couple other friends of mine in the area share my pain  and honestly I get frustrated a lot and it almost seems to dampen your confidence level but I’ve never thought of the option of ever throwing in the towel.  At this stage in life, I don’t really have that option and if I did have a choice, I wouldn’t anyways!  From what most people tell me, finding a decent job is HARD!  I don’t know one person who has told me finding a job is easy.  If you are that person, please message me and perhaps you could share some more tips with me and tell me why it is so easy!  I took a long 4 hour exam with the department of CHP but after reviewing what they demanded of me it could put a halt to my photography career for over a year and that…I am just not willing to sacrifice so I could careless if I even get the job or not!  I should get my results in a month or so so well see.  Fortunately I do have another testing for a accountant position and I hope I’ll do well for that.  If i score high enough I then proceed to an interview, talk about structure!  Well, thats usually how a lot of my job processes have been so far aside from jobs in the private sector.  The job search continues….tomorrow I’ll be meeting up with an executive for Stockman’s Bank to discuss opportunities, banking, investment banking and so forth.  I hope I learn from it and perhaps I’ll be networked to others for opportunities!

On a positive note, I join a small group at my parents church.  Seem pretty awesome…they are doing what they call “40 Days of Community”  not the same as “40 Days of Purpose” if you have done a study through Rick Warrens book “Purpose Driven Life” (Awesome book might I remind you).  Anyways, I am pretty excited about meeting some new people of different age groups, connecting with a community of believer which I haven’t had for sometime now since my transition from college to back home!  This should be an exciting change for me and I pray the Lord will bless me through it!

I read this on my mother’s desk calendar for April 10th.  She changes it everyday and here is what April 10th has to say…To pray “Thy will be done” should not be a attitude of passive submission, but a call to the whole nature to strive to do the upmost for the cause of God.  Simply powerful!  I need to revolve my life around this quote more!

Blessings to you all and thanks for reading

    Cheers,

    Steve

EDIT:  I think I’m having monitor issues here!  I’m seeing different things on different monitors of my work.  My work seems slightly off, lighter in areas than I see on my monitor at home.  Maybe my contrast settings are too high at home?  Maybe I’m over reacting but something is off and I can’t tell which image is true!  I know which one I like more but not sure which one would be true (true as in if i were to send it to the print shop, would it come out as I see it on my monitor?) =P  I honestly think I have an issue with this.  I don’t think people are seeing what I want them to see!  This is bothering me a lot!  I need to resolve this asap!  If you notice something odd about the photos above please tell me because I don’t want you to just comment “o great photo” to just be nice or fear of giving people your HONEST opinion!  I like constructive criticism…it pushes me to become better! =) [the first image should actually appear slightly darker and the contrast and saturation should be up a tad too, but not seeing it on multiple monitors)

  • Thanks for taking the time and effort to share! I like the fonts you used on both photos. They just fit in very nicely with each image. And all the best for your job search! :goodjob:

  • Very nice. I like that first shot. I love the simple composittion and the color that you brought out of the chairs

  • RYQ… I take many of  my photos within 5 miles of my house. I live on a farm so that tub was in a field on a farm up the road. The owner probably used it to feed his cattle many years ago.

  • Yay for small group! :fun:

  • thanks for the encouragements.
    =)

  • work is overrated

  • yay for small groups…. i love finding an awesome small group.  they really help you grow.

don’t worry about the job =)  God has it all planned out.

  • The Purpose Driven Life is a great book!  And congrats on finding a small group. (:

Anyway, great insight, Steve!  Stay strong and close to God.  Hang in there!

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” [James 1:2-4]

  • pretty carrr!!!

  • ah meeting new people in small groups :D always an exciting time!

and why is everyone using the first and middle name in their logo? (unless anthony is your last name then my bad!) is it cause its less asian?

  • :sunny::sunny: CHEERS :sunny::sunny:

  • nice pics and i like the font you experimented with too.

  • Those photos are very neat.  I like them… they are creative.  God Bless Steve.

  • Love the post processing work you did on Junshien’s photo. It really gave it a whole new dimension! Hang in there, stay close to our good Lord and He will guide you in the right direction! ~ Dawn

  • steve! your pics are so good! i love the first one…with the colors and lighting and yeah, just the way it is…i likeeee

  • oh didn’t see the taken by junshien and processed by you part. but still, good processing! hahaha =P

  • dang that first image is awesome! whoot!!!

  • hmm that’s a hard question. I think it would have to depend on the picture. Like, the font on your car pic matches it well. And the font for the first picture matches that picture well too. But if you’re looking to stick with only one font, I think the first one is probably more universal.

  • I got caught up in you xanga and backtracked up until the time when you were trying to decide what camera to get, haha. i love all your pictures. btw, do you know someone named sarah son? i thought i saw her in a couple of your early photos.

  • hi Steve,

nice pics, wat’s the brand for the car u took?
    I like 2-door design
    Have a nice day

    Kelly. xx

  • hey do you live in southern california?

  • Its really a tough period for you, I understand this feeling! But don’t forget the everything must from the good of our Lord once He allowed the things or trials happened on you. Cause He is the Lord who did count the number of our hair and to feed up the only costed 2 cents sparrow :)

I will pray for you for sure!

  • interesting. i think finding a job is easy. i just flirt a lot! haha i am kidding. no seriously, try it! lol, i joke. :P

oh, i work for a financial company, but too bad i don’t think we have an office in sactown. boohoo! good luck with your job search though. it’s a difficult process, but i know you’ll eventually find something that is worth your time.

  • btw, nice editing on the photos. way more talented than that junshien kid. haha i am kidding. he’s gonna kill me now.

  • hehe yer last name is ng? my bf’s last name is ng! which means if we get married im gunna me “missing” hahahahha okay that kinda lame but oh well :)

i have nooo idea when i’ll be up there. prolly during summer for sure though. i gotta get through my finals and stuff and graduation! yay! but i will let you know when i do :)

  • i was so surprised how small of a world it is that i forgot to comment on your photos, silly me~
haha, well i love the first one. the colors are amazing and so bright. it makes me feel happy. but yes, sarah son, that’s cool how you went to school with her. i actually don’t know her, but i’m pretty close with her older brothers through church and stuff. small small world, huh? :D

oh, and thanks for the comment about my profile pic. it’s….different. but i like it too, hehe.

  • :) you’re welcome. i am going to sin city. aka vegas. but the parents. i hope i don’t get so irritated that i’d rather be at work . . . you know . . . doing anything but actually “working”. :P

  • i’ve never heard of bullhead jeans, which is weird because i work w/ brands (especially with jeans) all the time.

and i had a hard time getting a job at first too after college. i just temped a bit. i even temped at sony at their mailroom and through that, i met other people in other departments and they were trying to get me on board permanently in their department. but i went with another job, which, by the way, i’m not at anymore. it takes time. just keep praying. good luck!

  • i really like the first photo with the colors. it’s so crazy to see how much your photos have evolved over time. as for logos, i prefer the original (slanted cursive) one as well. but great work on your photos and keep them coming!

  • Steve, I honestly cannot imagine living without my Mac anymore. Even after using a PC all my life, I am now addicted to the ease-of-use that a Mac affords. Sure, apple isn’t flawless and OSX isn’t perfect, but it gives me far, FAR less grief than Windows ever did.

You see, with a Mac you buy a complete package, everything from the hardware to the OS is engineered by the same people so that everything works together as perfectly as possible. Whereas with a PC, you buy a HD from Maxtor, you buy a DVD drive from Sony, you buy an Asus motherboard, you get some Corsair RAM, and then all the other different brands of different hardware, etc. etc. THEN, you go and buy a bunch of different softwares, again all made by different companies, and you have to try and get it to all run smoothly on that “high-performance” collection of hardware. Admittedly I am no PC guru, and maybe my problems are “easy” for a computer geek to solve, but nevertheless the compatibility frustration that sometimes comes up are just too much for me to take. It got to the point that once, I simply threw out a perfectly good piece of hardware and bought a new one, because I had spent hours trying to fix a driver or firmware or something. I mean there are only so many minutes or hours that I can dedicate to solving a problem, and then I HAVE to have the problem solved, period. So at that point I said to myself, “there must be a better way!” …And I bought my Mac and haven’t had that kind of frustration at all so far. Again like I said, a mac is still not perfect, and NO it’s not necessarily WAY better for image processing, and YES you pay a pretty hefty premium to buy a Macbook Pro for example compared to an HP laptop with comparable hardware. But to me, a camera geek who is not so much a computer geek, it is what I have to have to stay sane.

And yes, Tokina will be making the 16-50 f/2.8 DX in a Canon mount.

    Take care,
    -Matt-

  • you know something is odd here….im on another pc and ive used a mac and for some reason the images i have posted here look diff from the image i see at my computer at home. i dont like what i am seeing here so im not sure if my image is true on this computer screen or the other. i use a sony monitor at home and the contrast seems higher on that that it does on this computer or a mac. so now im thinking what you are seeing is not what i really want you to see because i am seeing something else. get what im saying? im thinking its my monitor at home thats off!

  • for example the first image is suppose to appear a little darker with a little more contrast (which is what i originally see on my sony monitor at home) the image i see on other computers is has more glow and is less dark, which is not what i want my viewers to see! any help or tips guys?

  • junshien is pimp i know. he’s a gatekeeper.

  • i like your thoughts on sharing! i like the photo but IMHO it is almost there. The white table is competing against you the subject and your eye first goes to the table. If you had been on top or around the white table, i think this would have been a much stronger photo. just my 2 cents.

  • You need a spyder to calibrate all of your monitors to the exact same settings… and if you use a laptop, try bumping the brightness down one while you edit – then it’s more like your desktop.

The bottom one seems to need a bit more contrast – unless you want just your name to stand out (which it is.)   I love it though – it’s got a great feel.

And the top – sooo cool!  It really looks great.

    Abigail

  • Monitor issues? I don’t see any type of problem looking at these images and Im on a 24″ wide screen, they look great. The first image of you in the room looks like a advertisiment for something, but it also looks like you have a BIG black eye too, whats up with that???

Your other work I just got through looking at is really good, you are truly blessed, keep up the photography gig, you’re talented!

    Randy

  • im using a sony monitor at home too. everything is very dark, maybe cuz my settings, so the 2nd picture looks like a shadow, and 1st picture, the color of the chairs stand out & there’s a strong white contrast from the table, but i can hardly see you. at work, these pictures look very clear~

  • ryc – yeah it’s a g35, I was going to go stock tires but then they’re just completely overpriced for how long they last and their performance. I bumped the from from 225/40 to 245/35 and the rear from 245/40 to 255/40. wheel diameter is within .3″ so nothing really will change except better grip and maybe a tiny bit worse gas mileage… but then, with the G… gas mileage is already out of the question

  • Hey Steve! Wow my eyes are so stinkin robbed! I have to really squint to read Xanga anymore…not good! I have glasses but b/c I am not used to them I lose them all the time! Doesnt help me much when they are lost.

You know there are networking meetings going on all the time out there. I forget the name of them but you meet for coffee or breakfast with other professionals and sometimes you get in with a good group and things can take off! If you are interested..my sister and her husband go to one and I could find out more.

Thanks for always stopping in …when we are busy it is hard to keep up but you always do! So THANKS!

    Kerri

  • yeah partying is killing me ahaha… well yeah i need something to shoot on… preferably a chick model ;) :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:

  • RYC: Yeah, is that your new car above?  Wanna trade? Not!:nono:

  • ryc: my uncle in HK has an R-34. it was sent to Japan to be personally tuned by NISMO. It was featured in a few magazines.

I sat in it many times while I was there. It’s … fast.

  • dude that is one sweet shot

  • hi steve! thanks for the comment. i really had a good time on the field trip. with your first photo, i like the concept. imho, the dark areas are a little too dark on my monitor. my eyes are drawn to the very white table, and only when i look to the back do i notice you. i wonder if there’s a way to see a little more detail in your suit. it’s great that you welcome the c&c. sometimes in the wonderful world of xanga, it’s so easy to casually say “great photo” and move on.

  • make sure all the moniters are set to adobe 98. to THEIR OWN moniters. =)

  • sharing…have you read the book ”Love is the Killer App” by Tim Sanders yet?

    Highly recommend it

  • calibrate your monitors! first shot does look dark and contrasty, second shot looks even darker but less contrasty. thanks for the birthdya wishes man!

  • Hey Steve…lol thanks for the cute comment on Jayden! Studley has a new slideshow up thanks to Grandpa and his ability to stay up late and get it done!

:sunny: Make it a great day!!

    Kerri

  • steve, i’ll message you regarding your question when i get a few minutes, most likely later today!

  • great shots, i love that first image particularly.

  • if i see anything out of place ill let you know. althought subtle color variations wont take away from a photo if theres not point for people to compare. the g35 photo is sweet (nice car, hehe) but did you intend to mute the contrast?

  • oOooOh i know what u mean bout ur monitor. it’s weird. ehhe and thanks for coming by steve!

  • Hey, you take some really beautiful photos…hope you don’t mind that I subscribed :)

  • your images look fine to me. they look the way i would have processed them myself.

ryc: well, it was intentional in the sense that i wanted a shot like that. during editing though, those shots didn’t turn out like i wanted, so i went through all my other images to find one that fit. =)

  • might be a possibility. the only thing is, i don’t think he’s that good. if i continue helping you out, and you continue practicing, i can easily see you being a direct competitor with him in maybe two years, give or take. but if he’s willing to take you up, i think it’ll be really good learning experience for you :)
