Find Me On FacebookBoy have I been extremely MIA from xanga. I almost feel foreign to this place and I am sorry I haven’t been able to keep up with everyone lately. I have been pretty busy with many external things in life. Still got my 8-5 job of course and been making efforts on the business end of things to build my photography business and have just not been around much to post. It’s definitely been great so far but still a struggle here and there. I am very excited about this up and coming year and I’ll definitely be back rolling away at what I love and do best. Wedding season is just about here and so is my first wedding for 2008 this March. Senior portaits are this weekend and so forth. I have been want more and more to expand my creativity with other venues of photography but just haven’t had the time. I have some cool news too. Opening a small studio/office in Davis so I am thrilled about that. I will talk more about that later and Ill post photos some other time to show you how it looks before and after. =) This is a very exciting time for me but at the same time I am very blessed to have been hooked up with a nice place at a excellent excellent price. Anyways, I’ll be on 5th street =) I am setting new goals for myself and making sure I blog is one of them. Its probably one of the most enjoyable things I do but sadly I can’t always get around to working on one. But I promise to be more consistent. Thank for always supporting me everyone. 2008 is rockin, the weather is getting warmer and the daylight is hanging around longer. My kind of days! =) Pardon my composition for landscape photography haha.
So I spend the weekend at what I would call the ultimate house for a bride to get ready in before her wedding day. I visited some family in Nevada City a few weekends ago and to my amazment there were like 80 something odd windows in the house and seeing the light shine through them is truly amazing. The real task would be cleaning these puppies. To put the house into perspective, think of it as one of those doll houses kids used to play with from the 50s. Where there are like 3 floors, thats right three floors and I slept on the third floor. The most amazing thing about the house aside from the windows in the specially and structurally engineered staircase to the 2nd and 3rd floor. Simply a unique and creative construction and to me challenges some house physics and dynamics since it seems like the stairs just float to the top of the house. I had such a wonderful time with family and I am truly blessed by each of them. If you follow my blog regularly you’ll know I always share a lot of about my family. I love them so very much and its great to know I have so much support. Extremely blessed to have you all in my life.
WHO LOVES 80s MUSIC? I DO =)

Nice, man! If I’m ever in Davis during the weekdays I’ll drop by and check out the office (when it’s open)!
pretty cool pics. i love the stairs ones!
I currently have a 5D, but I will buy a replacement 6D or 5DII once that comes out so that the 5D can resort to back-up duty
But dude, thats awesome about the studio/office! I was in a similar situation here not too long ago and it was a blast. People came by all the time because it had such an open/creative vibe to it and we always welcomed people to come by and share ideas. If i ever open up a full-blown studio, i’d like to designate an office space where creative professionals can rent out cubicles to work on their stuff and network with other creative professionals in a office environment but without all the hassles of renting an actual space. it could be rented by half-day chunks with access to the studio so they can shoot video/photo. There would also be a meeting room, so independent freelancers can setup meetings with clients in a professional environment. thats my dream, anyway
let me know if you’re ever in the bay area. we should meet up sometime
sounds like you’ve been busy.
good to hear from you again and wish you the best.
i luv the staircase photo!

gosh – you sound very busy… the 8-5 will kill you. =P
but i’m super excited for you and the new studio!
great song choice and i love the blue staircase. excellent excellent shot.
Wow, tears for fears. Wow.
Good times, bro, I love the ideas and things that you and guys like OneStyle are doing. Amazing stuff…
By all accounts the Canon 5D replacement(s) should
have been here a month ago at PMA in January. But Canon has been
slacking off because, well, the 5D doesn’t really have any
competition! Unless you count the D300, which personally has cured my lust for FF even though *most* people don’t consider it when they think of 5D competition…
The 5D will probably be replaced later this year at
Photokina, which is in August or September or October, I forget.
Basically late summer or early fall ’08.
The curveball is that they might split the line in two, making a 3D and
a 7D. The 7D being basically a 40D with more or less the same FF sensor
as the 5D, and the 3D being more professionally spec’d, high end…
(Yet hopefully more affordable than the 1D series bodies!) If Canon does THAT, it would really be a clincher for pro photogs, that’s for sure, and people who switched to the D3 just for weddings etc. are going to be kicking themselves for spending $5K on a camera that is major overkill for what they shoot! (Of course expect Nikon’s kick-ass 5D competitor to come out later in 2008, maybe at PMA 2009…)
BTW, do you subscribe to my CameraTalk?
Take care,
=Matt=
Matt pretty much summed up the info on the 5d. Nobody really knows, its all speculation. But based on how good the 5D has performed for the last 2 years, the replacement is sure to be a great camera. At the very least, I might not get a new 3D/6D/7D, because the used market will be flooded with discounted 5D’s!
By the way, I made an 80′s disc that was hailed “The best 80′s disc ever”. remind me to burn you a copy.
congrats and best of luck!
Hey that is great news and great photos as usual.
God is blessin’ ya.
i had that picture there forever!! hahaaa
dig that first shot!

I love almost everything abot the dell UltraSHARP…. almost…PROS:24″ for $475 USEDThe actual LCD panel is exactly the same as a cinema display (same manufacturer)built-in 4-port USB HUBbuilt-in TV inputsbuilt-in CF card readerheight adjustable standVESA mount compatibleIts aesthetically pleasing to the eyeCONS:Dell Logothe aluminum housing of the cinema display is much nicerthe dell monitor has that option to turn it sideways for a vertical display. While this may “seem” like a neat feature, I never use it, EVER. The reason that this is a bad feature is because the monitor never seems 100% horizontal because it tweaks ever so slightly with every touch. It has a 4-port USB hub built in. 2 ports are on the back and two are on the left side. The two on the left side are more convenient, but if you plug anything into there, it will stick out in a way that seems akward to me. Especially when my laptop is usually right next to it. The ports on the back are badly placed as well. Somewhat of a minor annoyance.
okay you’re my hero. everybody wnts to rule the world.. is the best feel good song ever. and ur phtography is… mondo amazing.
hello.
#5!
it would be better if there are lesser leaves.
HAHA! bold trees are good.
Hi Stephen
Wow, that staircase is the bomb! That is in Nevada City?! Cool!
I <3 Tears for Fears!!!
Glad to see you again! I feel the same way… too much to do so xanga suffers! No worries tho I understand!
Kerri
ahhhh beautiful photos!
i like the staircase ones especially!
great photos! and congrats on your studio opening – how exciting!
sometimes, i do prefer oldies.
but i somehow hate to admit it. LOL
yeah, my walls are totallly freakin blue. blue’s my favorite color and i know it’s not good for editing (because it will make your eyes adjust to the color). The color is even more vibrant in the photo because I hid a 580EX behind the monitor and bounced the light off the back of the monitor
Traditionally, you’re supposed to paint an editing room a neutral grey. I think grey is good for color correction, but bad for creativity and well being
ya that’s why i’ve never attended any concert because those songs i like are so old and the singers are too dead to hold a concert.
Congratulations! Can’t wait to hear more about your new office and see those before and after pics. As always beautiful images, love them all! The 80′s ROCK!!!
hey how’s my fav photoblogger been? we need to get together sometime, photo session or not! lets catch up
I’ve been MIA too. Good thing I didn’t miss your now-famous staircase pics! =]
