Senior Portraits
AshleeWell folks…I am back! It’s 2008. Spring is around the corner, the
day light lingers in the horizon, days are getting warmer and I don’t
mean global warming either. =) What else is better than a fresh dose
of senior portrait sessions by yours trulyMight I add this had to
be one of my favorite senior portrait shoots so far and Ashlee and I
had a ton of fun. Ashlee is a smart, talented and definitely hip girl
to say the very least. She happens to be a photographer herself. We
actually ran into some random places to shoot some abstract work at no
trespassing areas haha. I think thats what makes part of photo shoots
so much fun is breaking a few rules and trying new things. I’ll have
to post some of the old barn stuff and farm equipment we ran into along
the way. And no I did not bring couches to the photo shoots haha. You
never know what you might find along the side of the road these days.
Hey, we found two couches…go figure. =) I had so many images I
liked I couldn’t decide which ones to put up! So here is a bunch!I think one of the
key aspects to great portraits is getting to know the person. I don’t
believe you can photograph someone well without really knowing or
getting to know them. I am all about edge, style, flare, freestyle
photography when it comes to senior portraits. I remember when I had
my senior portraits in high school with a photographer and they were
the lamest photos I probably have. I looked like a idiot haha and
don’t even comment on that….just plea the 5th hahaha. Basically, I
didn’t like any of the photos because I didn’t feel like they
represented ME and WHO I WAS! It is absolutely crucial for my clients
to be involved in the photo experience because its not just about
pictures. Its about life and people. I think some of the best parts
of my photo shoots is just hanging and talking with them and friends
who might come along. It’s one things to be a photographer but
ultimately its just fun to be real with them. I never have the
attitude of a photo shoot being a job because it isn’t. It’s my
passion! So who is down to have some fun? I’m currently still booking
senior portrait and photo shoot sessions. On another awesome
note, March 15th, 2008 kick off my first wedding of 2008. Had tons of
fun at this one too in the developing city of Lincoln, CA. Stay tuned
for a few photos from that later on.Studio is coming along
very slooooowly. I finally got a table in there and a few other things
but not much. I still have to post up some pics of the place. It’s
going to be awesome! =) Had my first client meeting in the new place
with nothing in it hahaha this past Sunday with Wendy and Greg! =)
Can’t wait to shoot your guys wedding. Thanks so much for making the
drive to meet up with me.I hope you all enjoy this set. Thanks for reading.
Cheers,

you shoot all the photos??? they’re all amazingly beautiful! great skills!
Steve, these are INCREDIBLE, every single one of them. I really like the poses, the composition of the photos, and the backgrounds. Every one of these would be great wall portraits.
great shots man, what do you have planned for your studio?
love the bleeding in love remix.
Yo Stevo! Wow this is a beautiful shoot, its so retro summer, I just love your style. I,m going to try and crack the teens UK market. I’m thinking of doing some free shoots to get a buzz started.. any tips would be most appreciated. Drop me a line ;0)
Hey Steve, Excellent job! I love the funky backdrops you were able to find, and your post processing was spot on!
Wow these are great! I don’t ever remember my senior portrait being any where this good. Of course, that was yearssssss ago!
Wow, Steve! I love these. You’re work is fantastic. I wish I had known you when I was a senior. My photos sucked. Of course you would have been a very small child then. Okay, we won’t go there…
Great job Steve. You’ve shot and processed these pics extremely well!
can’t wait to see the wedding pix! and great job on ashlee
You definitely glam up Ashlee’s senior portraits!!! Is this sacramento area? I didn’t know Davis/Sacramento has such good looking locations?!?!! Or did you use Magic on your photoshot? LOL
Hi, I was browsing through the blogrings and found yours! I love these pictures! I wish I had senior portraits like these! I’ll be back for updates!

=)
I like the one that showed her painted toes, pointing together.
hey, i just added another behind-the-scenes photo to my post. check it out. its kinda funny
really nice pics! looks like u spend some time editing them. they r great!
I’m loving your style Steve. Excellent work.
RYC: Oh, the slopes were so much fun. I am 45 minutes away from Big Bear and I hardly go. More than my skill of snowboarding or skiing would be walking in ski boots… oh yeah. Your pictures always amaze me… so talented.
You’re so hot right now you have no idea.
Steve:
Your choices of actions and color in photoshop were all excellent. Also, I would rather be shooting Ashley than attending WPPI anytime. As much as I like most of the poses, she needs to smile more, she radiates when she smiles, what a tall and cute young woman. My absolute favorite one is the Blue image #20 on the post. If I were judging that at PPSV it would get in the high 80′s which is a Gold Ribbon.
Randy
greAt post! i wanna visit your studio someday too.
what a great portrait session…! where is this at? I think your local to me.. (Roseville). Keep up the great work!
