  • Childhood Photos

I was looking through a box of photos I had the other day and fumbled across hundreds of photos of my sister and I when we were going up.  Something about those times that bring me back to the grass stains on my pants and the moments where you spin around until you go bonkers and fall down.  Ah the smell of childhood…innocent, joyous, happy and soo free.  It isn’t often enough that we spend some time down memory lane or think about how we are so constructed as adults now.  Children are yes naive and have much to learn but as adults we can probably learn more from a child than any book can teach us.  Theres no wonder Jesus always goes back to the notion of a “child like faith.”  As an adult we become so assimilated to cultural norms, expectations and we live out lives worrying about what others think of ourselves.  Look at children do they really seem to care much about what others think of them?  Hardly!  I’ve learned that worrying is the exact opposite of trusting.  Yes, even at my age I still need to be reminded.  You’d think Id realize that by now but I’ve only begun to unfold how much I worry about so many things in my life that it seems to plaque me and in some cases I feel like it has affect the people I love and care so much about.  Living my life in freedom is a everyday task I am learning to move towards and each day I do I realize how much joy comes in that.  Life is too short to worry about rubbish! =)

Old photos.  There is something about old, faded and ripped out of shape photos from your childhood or photos passed on from generation to generation.  I really love that sort of photograph.  It has timeless Polaroid written all over it.  I still love the idea of tangible photos especially the old ones.  It’s funny as a photographer most of my work is digital so I hardly have tangible photographs to hold in my hands.  Sort of sad I know but I plan on changing that soon. =)  I also love how people post process children or fashion photographs all desaturated in color with some textures that add burned corners to the photos and rips.  I love that antique feel of it when I see a photograph.  It evokes emotion and something about that moment some how.

Photo 1:  My Fischer Price lawn mower.  =)  My dad had me trained at a early age hehe.

Photo 2:  I think my mom took that when we were at Great American in Milpita, Ca when I was about 4 or 5 I think.

Two things about me when I was a little tike…

    1) I had a huge head (literally)
    2) I was a chub chub haha

Well that’s all you get about me for today.  I’ll share more another time hehe

I’ve been working on a number of things lately so I will post a photos from a couple shoots I did and some candids from a friends wedding.

    Thanks for reading

    Cheers,
    Steve
