I love Thomas’ expression here.  He was actually quite happy to be taking pictures.  He just wanted a serious look here.  He actually really a character this charming young man. =)

Well the picture say it all.  =) I love these kids with all my heart =)

My favorite picture of Thomas during this shoot.  I love that he’s throwing a leaf into the pond.

This photograph reminds me of my childhood days.  Free and happy =)

I chased ducks just like Thomas back in the day haha

Ok back to the kids being silly.  Jordan & Adaline join us in the shoot too =)

As you can see, they enjoy making faces of all sort =)

I really like this photograph a lot.  I think it will last a life time. =)

    This one too. =)

Victoria always like to make faces in every shot it seems haha

We all like big and tall trees =) You’ll find lots of these in Davis, CA =)

    Hahaha…Thomas is so adorable =)

I like this photo because I haven’t got a clue as to what Adaline is doing to Thomas but its bhahahahahahhahahaha funny =)

Too many I really like here hahaha

I think I could do a ad for Eddie Bauer haha

Last but not least my Auntie and Uncle.  Proud parents of Ryan, Victoria and Thomas =)

When I see Thomas’ life for some reason it brings me back to my life as a child.  =)  Hes my buddy =)

Well its Christmas Eve Eve and I am doing all my shopping tomorrow haha.  Yes, you heard right, tomorrow on the Eve of Christmas.  No I don’t usually wait till the last minute to shop or make gifts for people so late but this year so much has happened that my life sometimes just seems like a blur.  I’ve been overwhelmed with many awesome things this year I just haven’t had time to think much about the holidays.  It saddens me because Christmas time is my favorite time of the year.  I love giving gifts I normally make for my family and friends but this year I have had no such luck.  I’m working on a number of things for them and most likely they will all be late gifts.  Well, better late than never I suppose.  Anyways, here is a quick family shoot I did for my little cousins this holiday season.  My aunt wanted some photos of the kids for Christmas cards and such so here is what we ended up with….lots of photos with personality baby. =)  Lots of it too.  Anyways, I always enjoy being around my cousins.  I usually trick them into thinking I am their uncle because I am so much older hahaha.  Anyways, I love each of them dearly and I only hope to capture things they can look back on one day and be like wow who took that of me ahah.  Children photography is not easy to say the least and I would have to say I would like to improve greatly on children portraiture.  A lot of what you see here is life style photography that I enjoy very much but a bit portrait stand offish.  Its a bit hard with these kids beccause they dont seem to sit still for more than a few seconds.  Typically normal for children but Id figure I could capture them in between the moments because thats more of who they truly are.  Free with a spirit to explore their external surroundings.  As adults sometimes we becomes so jaded to the world around us because there is so much we are to be held responsible for, worries and cares that when you look through the eyes of a child its usually the most beautiful thing in its purest form.  Unjaded, care free and true.  There is not wonder Jesus tell us to have a child like faith.  Jesus’ just always has the answer.  Its so simple yet as adults we just don’t get it.  LOL.  Well, I hope you all enjoy these kids as much as I did.  I can’t wait to hang out with all of them on Christmas day.  Its going to be ace =)  I’ll be back to wish everyone Merry Christmas.  I hope you’ve been all good things year…Santa might not give you want you wanted if you’ve been naughty haha.  Anyways, I hope this holiday season is everything you all dreamed of.  Blessings upon blessings to you all.  What I do here through photography means nothing without you all.  Thanks.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

Believe it or not we shot this in the state assembly room.  Jamie looks amazing here and Jared is the perfect compliment.

I think Jamie can pull some Vogue stylz here =)

I love the warmth of this photograph

    Stairwells are pretty ace =)

I think they make a good support team =)

    Sacramento Golden Tow Bridge

Candy Apple Red Ford Cobra Mustang…the only FORD I like haha.

Jared & Jamie thought it was strange to photograph here.  It was at a parking garage entrance.  Most people would never pay attention to this =) Well, this is what you both look like right there. =)

Meet Jared and Jamie.  Jared and Jamie are getting married this January 2009 and they are very much excited.  I am absolutely thrilled to be photographing their wedding right after my trip the United Kingdom and a wedding in Cancun with the notorious Junshien. =)  Its going to be awesome traveling the world with one of my best friends.  He’s more like a brother to me =)  Anyways, Jamie and Jared are madly in love.  They love HSM3.  Jared and Jamie both work for the California State Capitol, though I don’t remember their specific positions they do get to see Arnold from time to time. =)  Jared used to work for Disneyland and he told me when they use to direct people in Disneyland they never pointed a finger.  They always used two or more fingers to direct people.  All out of being kind and curteous.  Remember you mother saying its not nice to point.  Its good Disney exercises that hehe.  Jamie has been following my work since 2007 and as soon as she got engaged, she contacted me immediately to make sure I had January open. =)  I love winter weddings and I can’t wait to capture their day together.  I hope everyone enjoys this post.

The thing I love about my job my clients are not just clients but they are people I have the privilege of getting to know as friends.  We have coffee, hang out, grab dinners and enjoy each other company.  I feel so blessed to be able to do what I am doing at this point in my life.  I owe all credit to God for blessing me with gifts to bless others with.  There are people in my life who make who I am today as a person and photographer.  People in my life who have inspired me and pushed me to live my dreams are people like Scott Robert who has helped me to see life in a brand new way.  His mentorship for photography and life I feel I could never repay.  Thank you.  To Junshien who has always been there right by myside through our struggles and transitions in life in our journey as photographers.  I still remember our conversations in college as roommates talking about wanting to do great things in life.  Still this day I can’t believe where we are today.  Its amazing.  When I reflect on my life I’ve been all over the world and the USA in the last two years and I have learned so much about myself, others and the world we live in.  Today I was talking to Lyssa and I wanted to thank her for such a lovely email I got from here that I wanted to share with everyone.  Lyssa is an amazing photographer I met in Spain this year.  She has a huge heart and shes an amazing artist.  Lyssa inspires me.  Here is what she wrote me…

The beginning of a love story unfolds…

September 30th, 2008 around noon life would slow down for a moment when someone so special to my heart walked into the room.  I like to think of it as a movie sometimes like when you walk into that room and its love at first sight.  The video slows down…she walks in smiling and then our eyes cross.  I like imagining a lot of things but what I like about her is she has this way about her thats so adorable.  I feel so right with her.  For once I feel like I can really be myself and who I am and want to be with her.  I love that she looks at life from such a beautiful perspective.  Shes really a gem.  She in the simplest way is the best thing that has ever ever happen to me.  Though we are thousands of miles away I feel so close to her.  I can’t go through a moment without thinking about her.  Days just don’t seem to be complete without hearing her voice.  Some might say I got it bad but I happen to like it =) I can’t wait to see her in seven days when I land in Manchester and she simply can’t wait for that day to collect me from the airport =)  She makes me smile.  Shes like sunshine after the rain.  Some days I’ve thought to myself…what a story this could be.  Can this be?  I believe in LOVE.  I believe that love finds its way.  Love is patient too.  Love isn’t selfish and LOVE comes to those who believe.  I know I’ve always believed but I’ve always wondered could love happen to me?  I’m a dreamer and so is she.  I believe in LOVE.  Do  you?  The greatest story in the world is about LOVE.  The Love Jesus has for each of us.  Thats why I believe.  Love isn’t just a feeling, its commitment to one another through whatever life brings.  The journey isn’t always smooth sailing but thats where you grow the most in through Love.  For the first time in my life I understand the the saying “YOU JUST KNOW” and there isn’t a doubt in my mind.  Now only if you could fit under the Christmas tree hehe.  Seven more days till I see you. ^_^

Thanks for reading and remember we celebrate this season because HE first LOVED us.  The Greatest Love Story.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

Well, Cary and Amy are finally here.  With their wedding day just around the corner I am absolutely thrilled to document their day this coming December two days after Christmas. =)  Cary and Amy were clients refered to me by a awesome friend of mine…Kate. =) You totally rock Kate.  Anyways, I met Cary and Amy for the first time for their engagement shoot.  I’m normally never nervous when I meet new people and fully enjoy getting to know couples.  Cary, Amy and I met at the Coffee Bar in San Francisco a few weeks back and my mission was to get them to feel completely like themselves and comfortable with their shoot.  I know sometimes it can be awkward meeting someone for the first time especially someone like me, a photographer =)  Cary and Amy wanted a relaxed session and thats exactly what I did for them but I think Cary and Amy wanted to push the bar a little more.  So we had a little fun here and there along the way.  I hope you all enjoy this session as much as we did.  Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for Jared and Jamie’s engagements.  Jay and Lia Wedding to come later as well. =)

Thanks for reading.  Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC FRIDAY.

    Cheers,
    Steve

  • Photo Rummaging =)

While working on photos for my clients I got the chance to rummage through some of images I did for my auntie’s engagement I did a while back.  While looking through a bunch of images I came across this photograph and for some reason I really like it.  I don’t know why but I just do.  The feel, the mood and the moment of this photo really brought me back to the day we were taking pictures.  I really love these two very very much and I am glad Matthew is a part of our family.  I hope everyone is having a pretty good week so far.  Its been somewhat cold lately here in California and Id hate to say but I’m ready for summer hahahha.  I like warm and hot weather. =)  I mainly want my gold sunsets for my photo shoots hehe =)  Stay tune for Cary + Amy and Jared + Jamie engagements =)  Thanks for stopping by.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Say hello to Stan and Joann.  =)  Stan and Joann are from Miami, FL and yes they flew all the way to lovely California to do an engagement session with me.  Stan and Joann are a fantastic couple and we had an amazing time getting to know each other better.  Despite the the rain they were both up for anything and I like that.  I like when people are positive and make the best of any situation they are in.  They are purely an example of that.  I think most people would probably say “man they flew all the way from Florida to do a shoot in California and the one day they come to San Francisco it pours.”  I like their style and I was actually very thrilled they wanted to do some different things.  I know they wanted to do a shoot that would be different from most engagement shoots photographers typically go on.  It was definitely a challenge for me but some how I managed to get some awesome shots I really liked.  Sadly the rain didn’t break until the night but their is much beauty in the night as well when it comes to photography.  Thank you Stan and Joann for being such good sports, beating out the rain and just down right having fun.  I had a fabulous time and I hope you two did too.  The best part about my job is I my clients become my friends. =)  I love to fellowship with people and I most certainly cant wait to shoo their wedding next year in New York.  =)  It’s going to be super ace. =)  Stan and Joann, thanks for choosing me to document who you two really are.  I’m really glad to know I have friends in Florida I can visit now.  =)  Thank you for blessing my life and I only hope these photos will bless you and everyone else you know all the more.

Smile for me today lovely…because it will make someones day =)  In the meantime I have much to share about my life but simply don’t have the time to share at the moment. =)  You’re going to have to stick with my pictures for now =)  Stay tuned for more weddings and engagements.  =)

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Cheers,
    Stephen
