I always love a good story and with every wedding I shoot I always want it to be able to tell more than just the story of their special day.  I want it to reach out to people to make them feel something more.  When I look at a photo it often wonder can I really capture a timeless image?  I think it is really hard but very much possible.  It’s those images that make you stop and stare a second, third maybe forth time.  Will a couple really look back on these images 20, 30 + years and remember that moment and cherish it more than just o look this is a photo of us dancing at our wedding.  I want it to communicate something powerful, something romantic, something magical that reaches out and says this is love, this is family, laugher, tears of joy and just LIFE framed in a moment in time.  As a artist I am almost never satisfied with my work.  I am always striving to perfect my art.

My passion revolves around people.  The joy of being around people makes me happy and for me its a privilege to document someones special day.  I never want my photography to ever be about me but always about the people.  I think there is always a part of you in ever aspect of our work which gives us style, signature looks which I’m still searching for.  Every time I photograph I always envision something different, I want to inspire people in life just as many have inspired me.  Its a beautiful cycle.  As people we are always evolving and I feel the same way with my work.  It’s never the same and I never want it to be the same.  Innovations comes by thinking outside the box but how do we think outside the box?  Lets start by not getting into a routine hehe…I know we are creatures of habit but I think a lot of times we become complacent or live in past glories or accomplishments that we fail to see what is ahead of us and see there is always more to explore.  So gosh darn it have some fun.  =) Spike your hair to work today or go some where that you remember that awes you or inspires you.

To Kevin & Elizabeth.  Thank you for sharing your day with me.  I know the Lord has many blessings for the both of you.  You both have awesome families who I know will support you throughout your lives.  Thank you!

I hope you all enjoy this set.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Quick update everyone.  I have some wedding photos I am finishing up for Elizabeth and Kevin and will be posting those hopefully by the end of this weekend.  I’m off to Belmont for a wedding tomorrow and then back home for a fashion shoot on Sunday afternoon.  I have tons of work to do but here is a shoot I did with Christina of her friend CJ a while back.  All photos were taken in Saratoga, CA.  I hope you enjoy this small set.  Special thanks to CJ for hanging with Christina and I for the afternoon.  Anyways, I need to pack my gear up and get some rest for a full day tomorrow.  I hope you all have a awesome weekend.

Quick update on life: =) This is one of the few times you’ll see me on my own blog, so here I am =).  I managed to sneak away one weekend with some awesome friends to learn how to play golf.  Believe it or not it was my first time playing golf ever.  The closest thing to golf was miniature golfing and the driving range.  Anyways, we all had a great time honestly golfing can be a decent workout since there is a lot of walking.  I found it rather relaxing and it was nice to get away from all I have been doing.  With my schedule you wouldn’t think I would have time to play 9 holes of golf and I don’t.  However, life is too short to miss the moments with good friends.  Besides, I am paying for it now hahaha but its worth it.  Friends and family are what matter most to me in my life so any chance I get to be with them I do my best to make time for them.  You only have one life and who wants to work 80hr weeks like I do? Yes I work weekends too ;)   but I love what I do.  =)  Vanessa, Dorthy and Kevin…thanks so much for being such a joy to be around and for teaching me the basics.  I’ll have more photos for you all from this particular weekend to share with you all.  Lots of food pics and just enjoying good company =).

On more happy notes =)  I have been pretty busy with weddings this month and will be completely booked next month as well.  I am working hard and pushing many hours into the midnight hours because I know you and my brides are waiting =)  Anyways, life has been nothing but a blessing.  I feel so privileged to be able to walk this path and I am utmost grateful.  I know in my heart I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for everyone here, my friends and family who encourage me in this walk of life.  I love my job and everything about it.  Yes, it is long hours but its so worth it.  As a wedding photographer one of the number one reasons why I love my job is not just witnessing and photographing the courtship of a special day between two people but witnessing family, friends and LIFE.  If you know me well, I LOVE PEOPLE and I love being around them.  Weddings couldn’t be a better fit for me.  One of my core values in life revolves around family and friends.  I live for my family and the people I care so much about.  I always love it when I meet awesome families and new faces.  I get to meet people from all walks of life from different places with different stories to tell.  I know The Lord Jesus put me on this path to bless other through the gift He has given me as a photographer.  When I see Jesus, He is the author, creator and artist of our life and I feel like I am part of that art piece and within that art piece I get to create art work.  Life is like art, it changes, isn’t ever constant, is expressive, evokes emotion, breathes life into us through the hand of Our Creator.  Sometime I can’t help to think about the sorts of question I want to ask God when I get to heaven.  I think one of the first questions I would ask Him is…can I see your paint brush collection?  I just like to imagine what God’s art gallery would look like.  I see so much color and a mosaic of life beyond our minds dreams.  I want to dream out loud and you should too =)  This week, make sure you laugh a little more, smile at someone you don’t know, get closer to someone you love dearly, go out of you way by doing something nice for someone or how about just saying HI and look at that person in the eye saying that =)  Have a great week everyone and DREAM OUT LOUD!

    Blessed,
    Stephen

ONE WORD FOR YOU ALL…SMOKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think this just about topped all my weddings of all time so far.  All images are for and copy righted for Scott Robert Photography.  I was able to shoot another wedding with the amazing Scott Robert.  Amazing is right…just look at so many of these shots.  I loved way too many of them and so I posted all of them that I processed haha. Just when you thought your wedding was amazing think again hahaha.  Just Kidding…but this wedding was all fun from the moment we arrived.  James and Grace thanks so much for being so awesome to work with.  You two are very special people I can see though all the people who gathered at your wedding day.  This wedding was by far was so unique from most or all wedding I have been to.  Grace is a school teacher and she invited all her little kids to a childrens reception following her wedding so that they could all see her.  So cute.  How many people do you know have done that?  I doubt you know of anyone.  Needless to say there were a loooot of people at this wedding.  Both James and Grace are talented dancers and they sure made that known on their wedding day with their dance team.  Dancing runs in their family blood I tell you.  The brides father was a great dancer too and might I add a pretty decent singer.  We had a spectacular time but boy was it hot.  I practically melted the whole day.  =)  Man I love bay area weddings haha.  Ok thanks for tuning in.  Stay tuned for images from other weddings so far this year.  =)  I hope you all enjoy this set as much as I did.

    Cheers,
    Steve

I like this one a lot!

Couldn’t resist a cute photo haha

The chicken suit is a must! =)

    3rd times a charm…good job David!  =)

Well we were off at it again.  About a month or so ago I did an engagement session for David & Maxine but didn’t have a chance to finish the shoot because they had to be at a wedding the day we scheduled their engagement shoot.  Anyways, we picked up right where we left off in good Ole’ Town Sacramento.  Probably one of my favorite locations to photograph in the Sacramento area.  I love the down town area there and there are certainly endless places to shoot if you look hard enough!  =)  Anyways, I know David and Maxine have been anxiously awaiting for these photos so here you go you love birds!  =)  We had such a great time and they were so kind to treat me to dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack.  Gotta love crab nachos and fish and chips.  Thanks you guys.  I really enjoyed this shoot a lot and it was very different in style from the first part of the shoot we did a while back.  The only draw back was probably the heat but never the less I never let weather stand in the way of a great photo opportunity!

I got a bunch of images to show you all from a wedding I did with Scott Robert, a wedding from this past weekend and a shoot I was on with Christina!  =)  Thanks everyone for tunning into my blog and for all your care and support on my journey as a photographer! Blessing upon you all and may the Lord bless you and keep you.  O…and stay cool this week if you’re from sunny California….it’s going to be a scorcher this week.

    Thanks for reading.

  • Photo Rummaging

Hey everyone, I have tons of photos I am working right now so I don’t have anything new just yet to post up.  I was rummaging through my photos from Paris 2007 and just really remenising the time I was there with some of the most wonderful people I have the priveledge of knowing.  I really miss this place and if anyone of you have a chance to go to Paris, its a absolute must see for anyone.  A great opportunity for photographers would be to attend Scott Robert’s Workshop in Paris this month.  I know a few people who are going to that and I can’t tell you how much fun you will have.  It’s impossible not to have fun…I mean come on…its freakin PARIS! =)  These are my favorite models for three reasons…(1) They are awesome and fun to be around, (2) They have more stamina for any other models I’ve been around (shooting alllll day with them and no complaints) and (3) did I mention they are hawt? haha   Luckily I got to see Sherry in NYC this year woohoo! =)

On another positive note, I don’t have to be in the office today woohoo and tomorrow I have a wedding.  Woot woot!  I hope you all have a sweet action and safe 4th of July. Aites…I’m signing out I have family and friends I need to be joining around the pool and BBQ!  Peace out!

    Cheers,
    Steve

  • My life is going a million miles an hour and I can’t seem to slow down or find time for the simple things.  If you think you can do two full time jobs and do them very well…you let me know your secrets.  Anyways, I’ll be updating when I get around to it.  Way behind on work and my life haha.  Hope you are all well.

    Cheers,

What’s the difference between these two images?

Last Friday I had a chance to go to the Giants vs. A’s game.  A’s go on to rock the Giants 5 to 1.  Go A’s.  Giants scored on a ER stealing home plate.  Anyways, one of the few things I enjoy in life is a good fashion ball game.  It’s been literally years since I have seen a baseball game and it brings me back to the days I played baseball in high school.  I really miss the sport.  Closet thing I can get my self connected to a bat, glove and ball is adult softball leagues.  Those are hecka fun.  Anyways, the best thing about AT&T park are their garlic fries haha.  Throw in some chicken stripes and a ice cold Budweiser and your good to go.  If you notice the difference between these two photos just PM me the answer haha.  It’s pretty obvious but you could over look it.  1st photo taken during the 2nd inning.  Last photo taken in the bottom of the 9th.  =)
