  • Case Car Photo Shoot
    1926 Restored 2006

Whats more unique than being a rarity?  Well if you’re a car junkie like me you’d think this would be a pretty amazing piece of machinery.  Built from old farm equipment with a farm tractor being the chassis for the basis of this vehicle really makes this creation truly in a class of its own.  This is one of two Case cars in the entire world.  I honestly have never heard of it but its registered so its legit!  The car has most of its OEM parts from the wheels to the interior.  My favorite part about the car is the grill…looks amazing.  It would be so awesome if one day to restore a classic of my own.  Even if I could I wouldn’t be sure exactly what Id want to rebuild haha.

My fascination with automotive wasn’t something random.  Looking at my fathers past he had some pretty sweet rides when he was in his younger days haha.  68 Camaro RS 390 Small Block, Chevelle 309 Block and believe it or not he used to own a Study Baker (not sure if thats how you spell it).  My only problem is I’m not a fan of modern domestic automotives.  Classics yes!  Which leads me to my next question?  Are you a domestic car fan or a import fan?  If yes, please do comment why?

Anyway, hope you’re all having a splendid Friday and I hope ya’ll can kick it a nickel this weekend.  To the locals/visitors join me at Tapa The World in down town sac @ 9pm.  Just mingling with some folks this weekend so if you’re in sac and are free make your way to Jst & 22nd.

Congrats to my friends Maxine & David…they are engaged and I am so excited for them!!!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned for photo from my latest shoot!

    Thanks for reading.

  • Joyce Portrait Session

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a splendid Thanksgiving.  I spent Thanksgiving with my family and a family we are close to.  I learned how to snowboard and boy does that workout every inch of your body.  I had a blast even though I fell half of the time.  By the last few runs I was starting to get the hang of balancing on the board.  Friday, we spent the day at a hot spring/spa resort in Nevada, Reno.  That was awesome.  I have never tried it before but its actually really refreshing for the moment.  It was nice to get away from everything with just family and friends.  I like the fact I lost track of all I had been doing, thinking about and just enjoying the time spent with family and friends.  It felt so good to get lost in that instead of all the worries we have in our lives.  This weekend was such a humbling experience and more importantly it was awesome.

The photos above are a quick handful from a shoot I did about a month and half ago.  The shoot was quick but we had a lot of fun.  I hope you enjoy this set.  Portraiture is something I find really challenging and I hope to learn far more than I know and see now!

    Thanks for reading!

  • Seniors Rule
    Alex

As a photographer my style is constantly evolving and slowly I am starting to see more and more of how I like to capture my clients.  Senior portraits like many other photo shoots you recreate emotion or an experience to life out of nothing but your subject.  Everyone has a different personality and when I photograph people I always look for things they do that make them look like them.  Often time on photo shoots people can look too staged and if anything they can look dull and unnatural.  I am typically a easy going person and thats exactly how I am on my shoots, relaxed.  If I am tense and uptight that will eventually rub off onto my client and will show through my work.  Everyone carries themselves differently and their personality often dictates the style, look and feel of the shoot.  Taking a good photo is one thing but I really want to learn more on how to take great photos/portraits consistently.

For this shoot, I had so many images I liked I had a difficult time narrowing down ones I wanted to post.  A few might be a little redundant and I apologize for that but I really liked the way a lot of these turned out.  Alex was such a joy to work with and to be honest she is my kind of client for senior portraits.  When Alex’s mother first approached me she had seen some of my photo work displayed at our local family business and was intrigued by my style and my approach to photography.  She knew her daughter Alex didn’t want the typical senior portrait shoot and neither did I =).  So they took a chance with me and the rest was history haha…that was probably the most fun I’ve had on a photo shoot and I hope for more clients like Alex.  Thanks for being so awesome to work with.  I hope you all enjoy this set.

    Misc. Thoughts:
Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here?  The weather has been a little off this year (global warming perhaps?).  But if you live in California you’ll notice Fall seems to be a little late this year at least here in Sacramento.  It’s late November/almost December and were in the high 60s (68 to be exact for somedays).  That is relatively high for this time of the year.  In the past its normally been a lot colder than it is now.  Anyhow, I am going to learn how to snow board for the first time this Thanksgiving so that should be fun aside from the fact that it hasn’t snowed.  Only place open is Boreal…man made snow.  O well its cool its not about the event but more so the people I am going with and the time well all spend together with family and friends.  I know how to ski but figured its about time I learned how to snow board like the rest of the kidos haha.

    4 reasons why I think American’s can’t lose weight

    • Too much carbs in our diet (grocery stores are flooded with carbs everywhere).  If you look at grocery stores often times a lot of the carb products seem to dominate what you see for special sales.  We basically love carbs haha.
    • People may eat healthy/well but they don’t monitor HOW MUCH they consume.
    • Consumption of too much sugar(particularly synthetic sugars found in soda and other beverages).
    • Lack of physical activity.

Obviously there are countless factors for everyone since everyone and their bodies are different.  The above statements are simply speculation and facts I have dervived from my observations and personal experience.  I could probably write a book on food, nutrition and health haha even though I am not a doctor.  I might not be 100% sound of course but I sure enjoy talking about health and nutrition.

Sunday my church DKC (Davis Korean Church) held its first annual joint ministry praise and dinner night.  It was such a blast and I couldn’t believe how large are church body really was until you put them all in one room.  Big and I mean like over 600 people big!  Our church has so many little kids,  couples with new borns and the number keeps growing with people in the congregation having children.  For me it was so exciting because I had never seen the church as a whole because its broken down into several ministries so we actually don’t see each other much on Sundays.  Children, Korean, English speaking, college and youth are all separate and its difficult to see the church visual in terms of people because its segmented.  For example, I am a part of the English speaking ministry since my Korean is poor haha but our numbers are relatively small in comparison to the church as a whole.  We are about 100 or less I believe but I could be wrong.  Anyways, I used to seeing only those people each Sunday or for social or small group gatherings.  Today blew me away because I had no idea that so many people went to this church.  Anyways, it was such a blessings.  Special thanks to all the Korean Ahjahma’s who made all the food for us.  There’s nothing like good old American turkey and ham dinner with all the fixings and Korean food on top of that haha.  More importantly, listening to Pastor David today…the one thing that stood out to me is our lives are to be lived with thanksgiving and praise in all circumstance we encounter in life.  Easier said than done.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone and don’t forget to be thankful tomorrow, the day after thanksgiving and the day after that and the day after that.  You get the picture.  =)

    Thanks for reading.

    Steve

  • Matthew & Jenny
    Lodi, CA

Hey everyone…I know I know I have been lagging on xanga post and a lot of these weddings I’ve done this past wedding season!  Anyways, here is the lovely Matthew and Jenny!  If there is one word to describe this very wedding day…its “HAPPY.”  Both of them were glowing that day and it was simply beautiful!  If you don’t already know Jenny is my aunt.  I have never been more happy for her and moreover I gained a new brother.  The most imporant things in our lives are our Creator and Family!  Family is always there no matter what happens in our lives!  Your job, fame, whatever you do or accomplish means nothing without these two vital things in our lives.  I love you both and blessing to you both abundantly!

I have so many sweet images from this wedding I’d post them all if I could but here are a select few I enjoyed a lot myself.  I hope you enjoy this second set.  If you are wondering if the chair photo was all set up…nope.  They just happened to have pretty cool guest who like to make sure the bride and groom are the center of attentions! =)

This is week two for me getting back to b ball and I am loving it.  I am so out of shape though.  My stamina on the court sucks but all in all I am getting some good cardio and meeting some pretty cool people.  To give you and idea of how out of shape I am…after playing five full court games last week I was sore for the whole entire week.  Pretty weak sauce I know hahah but hey…no pain no gain.

I hope you are all have a awesome week.

  • Like My Hair?  =)

So those of you who know me well know I have not had a haircut in quite sometime…like 4 months so far which is very long for me since I normally get a hair cut about once a month!  I’m 4 months and going strong.  Most people know me with short hair and are probably not used to this.  If this is your first time seeing me this might be no big deal at all haha.  I don’t plan on cutting it until after 2008 and even then I’m not sure what I’m going to do haha.  Most days now I don’t even know what to do with my hair.  Its a surprise everyday.  Somedays it looks like a fro the others I look like someone mowed it down flat with a hot iron haha.

It all got started when I got lazy and didn’t cut my hair.  Thats how it pretty much got started and then my sister got me some sample hair products by KMS.  I got this hair play goop and it works wonders on long hair might I add.  In fact its sort of fun and gives a lot more character haha.  Now another reason why I’ve decided to keep it long so far and for sometime is because I have been getting a lot of positive feedback from females about my hair.  I’ve always had my hair somewhat short especially on the sides but most girls have never commented on my hair.  Not that I cared until now that I have long hair; for some reason they all like my new dew which confuses me but whatever haha.  The thing I hate about long hair is its harder to maintain and it takes longer to fix in the mornings haha.

I used to be pretty careless about my hair but now I give it a little more care, I’m such a girl but o wells. haha. Do I look like a Korean Pop Star yet? hahah prob not but perhaps when the New Year rolls around I will.  I can think of a select few who hate my hair long right now so this ones for you long hair haters haha.  If you look at my profile pic you can reminisce my original look.  So what do you think peoples, long or short?  My dad thinks I look like a bum cuz sometimes it looks like bed hair, my mom likes the traditional look of the clean cut short hair, someone told me one day I looked like I had a birds nest on my head, LMAO haha.  Anyways, thats my random blurp for now.  Stay tuned for wedding and portraits! =)

    Thanks for reading!

    ***warning…tons of photos***

Quick update before I rush out the door.  I know a lot of you have been wanting to see some photos from NYC.  Well, here they are!  Enjoy!

    Summary of New York
    - 53rd & 6th Ave. has the best street vendor chicken and rice.  I’ve never tasted something so good!  =)
    - Brooklyn style pizza is off the hook
    - Brooklyn bridge is not that great looking in person hahaha
    - There are the same amount of people in time square at 2pm in the afternoon as there are at 2am in the morning hahaha
    - New York subway systems are very efficient but they smell like urine everywhere
    - We met three guys from the Bronx whose names are The Reaper, Two-Tone and Manny haha
    - A guy on the subway threated us with a toe nail clipper (the most hilarious thing ever haha)
    - There are more street vendors in NY than any other city in the United States haha
    - For some reason I thought the Statue of Liberty was off the shore on main land.  Turns out its on a island ghahha
    - The Cage has some crazy street ballers
    - People in NY are always on the go and they don’t talk to each other
    - Does NY have a grocery store anywhere? hahha
    - NY has the largest freaking Macy’s I’ve ever seen hahah there are two separate buildings for men and womens clothing
    - I think Cali girls are cuter than NY girls hahaha
    - There is a 24hr Apple store hahah
    - Ground-Zero gets your emotions running especially when you see it in person
    - People in central park have picnics and couples feed each other.  Its pretty funny, its like the movies
