  • Something I wrote a while back but its a reminder to all of us.

    PURITY:
Now this is something we often don’t hear too much about today.  Purity includes wholemsome thoughts, a sincere desire to do what is right, and a commitment to obey God’s Word.  For our bodies are holy temple of God which need to be cleansed of sin constantly because there is so much filth in our lives.  I was following the study and in Matthew 5:8 which I quote from Jesus…”Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.”  That is so true, how?  Jesus is saying that the center of our being, our will, our emotions, soul, and throught proccess need to be cleansed of sin.  Purity is huge friends, and it is important in our walk with God and it is something I honestly have stuggled with and still struggle with in my walk with God.  To help examine our lives the study I went through has some good pointers that I would like to share with all of you .  Here is a list….

    1. Do not place yourself in the way of unnecessary tempation
-Know the weaknesses and try to avoid situations where the tempation to sin would be irresistible.

    James 1:14-15
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.  Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, whne it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

    2.  Guard the content of your thoughts.
-Avoid filling your mind with the world’s moral filth

    2 Timothy 2:22
“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

    3.  Beware of the sins of the heart.

    Matthew 5:27-30
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not commit adultery.  But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.  If yourr right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your memebers perish than for your whole body to be cast into hell”   -WOW, craziness but so true and real.

    4.  Avoid adulterous relationships
-God specifically warns us against living in immoral relationships.  I am sure many of you know what that means.

    1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
“1 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; 2for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given[1] us His Holy Spirit.”

    5.  If you fall, pray to God for forgiveness and for Him to purify your heart.

    1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  God is so good and His truth endures forever.

    6.  Keep an eternal perspective
-do not waste your time searching and seeking after earthly pleasure.  These things will perish and they do not benefit the Kingdom of God.

    2 Peter 3:10-11
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness.”

    7.  Live to please God.
-We need to surrender out lives to God everyday and die to ourselves and to know we are dependent on Him.  Allow the Holy Spirt to take control of your actions, thoughts and decisions that way we can live a life that is more pleasing to God.

    Romans 8:5-8

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
